of inspiration.

I see your face

You seem like a stranger

and yet I know you so well.

How did we ever get so close?

How did we end up so far away?

My brain tells me I don't know you

but my heart still beats in memory

The emotions struggling in disconect.

Whatever happened?

Why did I trust you?

It seems so long ago,

and yet so fresh in mind

'Us' is a distant thought. 

How did we even start?

Why did it end?

I'm not bitter or heartbroken

My brain has sanitised my emotions

A surgical removal of connection to you.

What did you see in me?

What did I see in you?

A skip in communication,

a phone line struggling to connect

the dots.

But now I see your face,

and you seem like a stranger,

and I wonder how I ever knew you at all.
